- Announce and educate participating schools about the Schoolhouse 2000 project.
- Confirm the number of countries, schools, teachers and students participating in Schoolhouse 2000.
- Continue discussions with CDC regarding their level of participation in Schoolhouse 2000.
- Preparations continue for The 21st Century Schoolhouse Educators Conference, June 25-30, 2000, at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon.
- Restructure Web site so all schools participating in The 21st Century Schoolhouse can easily collaborate on Schoolhouse 2000 (ongoing).
- Initiate Schoolhouse 2000's introductory Environmental Health Project.
- Via The 21st Century Schoolhouse Web site, schools share and collaborate on information resulting from the Environmental Health Project.
- Discussions continue between 21CS and CDC-Excite staff regarding training program during the Educators Conference.
- Design and incorporate Web-based tools for the Schoolhouse 2000 Educators Conference training program.
June 2000 - August 2000:
- The 21st Century Schoolhouse Educators Conference, June 25-30, in Salem, Oregon.
- Conference participants return to their respective local communities to share the project and establish partnerships with relevant health, governmental, educational, business and community organizations.
September 2000 - September 2001:September 2001:
- Schoolhouse 2000/Disease Detective interactive project officially begins.
- Ongoing moderation throughout the year designed to promote interaction and collaboration (involving CDC?)
- Participating schools post updates via the project Web site.
- Ongoing evaluation.
- The third 21st Century Schoolhouse International Youth Environmental Summit will be held in Toyama, Japan. (All schools participating in The 21st Century Schoolhouse project will be invited to send delegations to the Summit.)
- Appropriate 21st Century Schoolhouse staff and CDC-Excite staff evaluates project effectiveness and its future application within The 21st Century Schoolhouse.
- The Schoolhouse 2000/ Disease Detective project model is refined so it can be replicated in a way that other small groups of schools outside The 21st Century Schoolhouse can participate in a Schoolhouse 2000/ Disease Detective project.
