Student Web Portfolios
Creating a 21st Century Schoolhouse web portfolio
The web portfolio project is a collection of ongoing selected work. While participating in The 21st Century Schoolhouse project, you will have the opportunity to complete a variety of activities which can be included in your own web portfolio. Portfolio activities will be based on a spectrum of themes within the environment. These activities will require you to interact with the internet and The 21st Century Schoolhouse website. Activities will utilize up-to-date information searches, articles, music, photographs, art, video, scenarios, stories, community-based activities, discussions, problem-solving activities, etc.
Your web portfolio should include the following:
- A homepage which identifies you and represents an individualized theme which weaves
throughout your scrapbook activities. A table of contents linking to the various activities.
- The directions for the individual web portfolio activity.
- Following each portfolio activity site, you will need to provide your answers, responses, and creative additions.
- Each portfolio activity should be tied together with a visual piece. These can be as creative and individualistic as you wish.
- At the end of all of your work on this web portfolio project, you will write a concluding essay which begins with the following incomplete sentence:
"By completing the web portfolio, I
learned...
The following are keys to a successful portfolio:
- Make the overall presentation of your portfolio neat, well-organized, and professional.
- Be creative. Make this your individual portfolio. Dare to be different.
- Complete the activities as you receive them. Falling behind in you work will only cause
problems later on. Spend some time on them, applying thought and research.
- Ask for help. Show rough drafts of completed activities to your teacher, instructor, or leader.
- Discuss ideas with parents, teachers, group leaders, friends, experts, community members
and other students.
