Day Eight

Saturday, September 13, 1997

Delegations checked out of Heritage Hall and left Western Oregon University for the last time.

At 9:00 a.m. delegations participate in a "Reforestation and Woods Tour" hosted by Boise Cascade. They were taken on a tour of reforestation work by Boise Cascade Corp. in the hills west of Dallas, Oregon.

On the way to Camp Cascade, where the delegates would spend the next two days, there was a stop in Salem for a short two hour shopping spree.

In the early evening, delegates were welcomed to Camp Cascade by a steady downpour of rain.

Camp Cascade is a private recreational lodge along the North Samtiam River in the foothills of the Cascade Range about 1.5 hours east of Salem.

Despite the rain, the delegates enjoyed an evening of relaxation, music and games, as well as a delicious barbecue prepared by the Camp Cascade staff. The night was spent at Camp Cascade.
