Solutions to Corporate & Social Responsibility


 

Article: #1

Citizens have the right to question industry regarding human health,
environmental, and economic impact of the methods of manufacture and
service on the products available for consumption.

Responsibility: #3

Industries have the responsibility to keep the public aware of the
material used in their products, especially those that have the
potential to endanger human and environmental health.

Objective:

To make legitimate information about products and production methods
available to all people.

Method:

Businesses must document production methods and product information.
These documents will be inspected to make sure the information is true.
Documents, including governmental documents, will be housed in centrally
located libraries easily accessible for the public. National libraries
will be networked world wide so information is easily shared between
countries.
Media coverage will promote the use of the libraries as well as
highlight some of the key documentation.

Evaluation:

The amount of information accessed at the libraries will be recorded.
This information will be used to assess the success of the program.


Article: #2

Citizens have the right to live and work in a clean and safe
environment, free from hazardous materials that may harm their health,
productivity, or the environment.

Objective:

To provide a clean and safe working environment for everyone.

Method:

Multi-faceted committees (made up of members from the community,
government, business, and experts) will set local standards of operation
which businesses must meet. Businesses will be monitored/inspected by
the committee These committees will be trained by a national chapter.
Government will provide the funding for these committees. Government
will also pass stricter zoning laws which will separate Industry from
urban development.

Evaluation:

Health check on workers and the community will assess the safety of the
environment. Yearly evaluations of the local committees by the national
chapter will determine the effectiveness of the committees. On going
training will be based on these assessments.


Article: #3

Government has the right to regulate industry in order to ensure a
sustainable environment for future generations.

Objective:

To provide government with a way to make educated regulations for
industries. To limit that right so government can't take undue advantage
of it.

Method:

Multi-faceted committees will research issues and present possible
solutions to Government. When proposing a regulation Government must
inform the public and industry. A referendum must be held so that
everyone can present their views of the issue. Government must take
these views into consideration before making a new law.

Evaluation:

A review of the laws passed and a survey of the public by the
multi-faceted committee will evaluate the effectiveness of the program.
These reviews will take place on a yearly basis and decisions about the
future of the program will be made accordingly.


Article: #4

Citizens have the right to be provided with safe food products
produced using environmentally sustainable methods.

Objective:

To ensure safe food products are produced and offered to the
public. To promote sustainable and safe production methods.

Methods:

Multi-faceted committees will set standards that the food and
agriculture industries must meet. Industries will be monitored by these
committees. Non-compliance will result in fines. Government subsidies
are available if a proposal is submitted to and excepted by the
multi-faceted committee. These proposals will outline how a business
will become more sustainable.

Evaluation:

Implementation of the proposals will be inspected twice a year.
Industries will be inspected as often as the committee feels necessary.
The community will evaluate the committee work through surveys.


Article: #5

Citizens have the right to be provided with energy alternatives
and products that are environmentally and economically sound.

Objective:

To make alternative energy sources affordable to businesses and
to the consumer.

Method:

Government support/subsides for businesses which produce clean,
safe, and sustainable energy sources. Publication of alternative energy
sources to inform consumers that they exist. Provide consumers with ways
to afford alternative energy, i.e. minimum wage, tax breaks for using
alternative energy, and loans.

Evaluation:

Studies on the use of energy and the forms people are using
will determine the effectiveness of these programs.


Article: #6

Citizens have the right to quality health care based on an
international standard.

Objective:

To provide everyone with quality health care.

Method:

Nationwide medical centers which provide care to those with
insurance. Health insurance based on a small percentage of income.
United Nations aide to countries which can't afford to set up these
programs.

Educational programs, including family planning, will be a feature of
the health care provided.

Evaluation:

Surveys of the health of a nation and as well as assessment of the
numbers of people using the provided services will determine the
effectiveness of the program and any changes needed.


Article: #1

Industry and individuals have the responsibility to produce,
use, and dispose of products, including energy, in an environmentally
safe manner.

Objective:

To educate industry and the individual as to how to produce,
use, and dispose of products safely. To promote compliance with this
knowledge.

Method:

Educate industry and the individual as to how to produce, use, and
dispose of products in an environmentally sustainable manner. To make
this knowledge the required standard. Reward compliance with tax breaks and
incentives. Levee fines when standards are not met.

Evaluation:

Regular inspections will assess the effectiveness of these
standards and the amount of compliance with them.


Article: #2

Industries and individuals have the responsibility to extract
and use natural resources in a way that sustains ecosystems.

Objective:

To find and implement methods of operation which sustain
ecosystems.

Method:

Experts in each industry will design methods of operation which promote
ecosystem sustainability. Set these methods as a
standard. Businesses must meet these standards or face serious
fines.

Evaluation:

Annual meetings where all groups involved can discuss the
methods and the effectiveness of the program and make changes as needed.


Article: #4

Industries and individuals have the responsibility to provide
and sustain a clean and safe living and working environment.

Objective:

To keep the living and working environments in the world safe
and clean.

Method:

Multi-faceted will set local standards of operation which
businesses must meet. Businesses will be monitored/inspected by the
committee. Industry and the individual will be educated as to how to
keep their environment clean.

Evaluation:

Safety reports and health checks on the population will be used
to assess the effectiveness of these programs.


Article: #5

Government has the responsibility to take into consideration
the wants and needs of industry, the individual, the community, and the
environment in order to make well-rounded decisions in promoting a
sustainable future.

Objective:

To make sure government is well informed about environmental
issues and public opinion.

Method:

Multi-faceted committees will survey the public, employ experts,
and research environmental problems in order to present Government with
a well-rounded view of the issue. In exchange for this information
government will fund the committee research.

Evaluation:

Surveys of the community and examination of the laws passed by
government will assess the effectiveness of the procedure. changes can
be made based on this information.


Article: #6

Citizens have the responsibility to sustain their health to the
best of their ability.

Objective:

To ensure everyone knows how to take care of themselves and
their health.

Method:

Participation in the nationwide health care programs proposed in a
previous solution is mandatory. Not attending education sessions or
regular check-ups could result in a loss of guaranteed medical care.

Evaluation:

Surveys of the health of a nation as well as assessment of the
numbers of people using the provided services will determine the
effectiveness of the program and any changes needed.
