Welcoming Message to The 21st Century Schoolhouse Dear 21st Century Schoolhouse
It is with pleasure that Daimon High School invites all the staff and students
belonging to the 21st Century Schoolhouse to The International Youth Environmental
Summit in Toyama, Japan, in 2001. We are busy in preparation for the Summit. Since our school in only sixteen
years old, this is the largest event that we have ever held. So, we are taking
great care with our preparations. The International Youth Environmental Summit
in Toyama is eighty-five days away! We are eagerly awaiting your arrival in
Toyama. We, the staff and students of Daimon High School, have been impressed by the
significance of this Summit, and are going to make this a successful Summit. It is with pride that we report that we, under the patronage of Toyama's Prefectural
Board of Education, have the support of our local governments (Daimon and Oshima
Town). We have already secured your accomodation, the halls for the Opening and Closing
Ceremonies, and the conference halls. The accomodation stands on a five-hundred
meter hill and should provide a good backdrop for international communication.
Internet services will also be available at the accomodation. We hope that you will arrive here, in Toyoma, in good health and on schedule.
We also wish that this summit will give all the participants new perspective,
bonds of friendship, and further both global and local environmental concerns.
We expect that this summit will provide all participants with the pleasure of
sharing thoughts and opinions towards the same goal. Finally, please keep in mind that it is very humid and hot in the summer here,
so please take the necessary measures to ensure that your stay here is comfortable,
pleasant, and productive. We eagerly await your arrival and look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely, Yoshiaki Oishi Principal, Daimon Senior High School
